Bonn Summit
European Forum on Culture and Politics
September 16–18 2026
The BONN SUMMIT brings together stakeholders from art, culture, science, politics and society to discuss current challenges of our time and their cultural dimension.
The first issue of 2026 focuses on the relationship between culture and politics in times of geopolitical power shifts. It will examine current developments in the USA and explore their consequences for Europe. It will shed light on selected sites of culturally coded conflicts over values and worldviews.
Day 3 of the event is dedicated to 'Public Imaginaries', which will examine "the cultural foundations of our European self-understanding and its future."
At 10:30, Matej Drlička, former General Director of the Slovak National Theatre, and representative from Open Culture! Bratislava (SK), will deliver a keynote speech on the “European Artistic Freedom Act”.
This is the latest step in the push towards the adoption of the European Artistic Freedom Act (EAFA). To see the full journey to date, see the entire timeline.
